About Shifts
In all volunteer roles, the first shift at an event will be responsible for setting up the workspace and the last shift for packing up. During the festival, Logistics will do the heavy lifting.

Dress Code: Upscale Black with green accents or Volunteer T-shirt with black bottoms, closed toes shoes. Be prepared for rain or cold (Wear a hat, bring sunscreen, bring layers)​

Roles Available

Artist Hospitality Duties include: - Assisting in the setup/teardown of the hospitality areas provided for the artists - Tracking the stage schedule and making sure artists are ready at the appropriate time - Keeping alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages well-stocked - Ensuring food/snacks are available as per directive - Making sure there are mirrors, towels and tissues available - Maintaining the area for artists only *Volunteers must be Smart Serve Certified in order to serve alcohol

Customer service (Cash) Duties include: Door/Ticketing - Checking tickets /passes/ guest list at entry to paid events - Selling tickets - Providing information about the festival, event and venue ​ Merchandise Sales - Selling raffle tickets, festival merchandise, artist CDs and festival tickets (if available) - Tracking sales, including artist CDs (tracked separately) assisting guests in finding T-shirt sizes - Using Square to make sales (smartphone card-reader – provided, need to install app) encouraging larger purchases, - Discouraging theft On each shift, one door/ticketing volunteer and one merch volunteer will be in charge of cash – the individual that signs for the float is responsible for the float at the end of their shift. At the beginning of your shift you will pick up a float and at the end you will take all sales sheets and cash to the Cashier and wait until it is checked. (Shifts will overlap to allow time for this.) ​

Customer service (No Cash) Duties Include: Floater - Collecting donations - Providing information about the festival, event and venue - Counting attendance - Guiding guests to dance ​ Greeter - Greeting guests at entry points to venue - Providing information about the festival, event and venue ​ Parking - Placing orange cones in 1 or 2 parking spaces - Maintaining these spaces ONLY for artists to unload and load their gear - Ensuring artists vacate the spaces after unloading and loading. Nobody may park in these spaces - Directing guests to onsite parking areas

Bar Service Duties Include: Bartender - Must be Smart Serve Certified serving beer and wine in accordance with liquor licensing regulations and Smart Serve standards - Confirming that guests have a wristband indicating their ID has been checked - Providing information about drinks available - Collecting tokens as payment Token Seller - Must be Smart Serve Certified selling tokens for beer and wine - Checking ID and providing wristbands for guests not checked by security ​ On each shift, one token sales volunteer will be in charge of cash and tokens – the individual that signs for the float is responsible for the float and tokens at the end of their shift. At the beginning of your shift you will pick up a float and at the end you will take the cash with a record of tokens sold to the Cashier and wait until it is checked.

Entry / Exit Duties Include: - Applying wristbands to of-age guests after ID has been checked by security staff - Providing general festival information to guests - Advising guests of where entry/exit is permitted - Monitoring guests at the perimeter points of the licensed area - Advising management or security if any perimeter, behavioural or health/safety matters are observed - First shift helps with setup, last shift helps with packing up

Guest Hospitality Duties include: - Must be smart Serve Certified - Reserving VIP seating in the lounge area and checking tickets (including VIP weekend passes) for entry to the reserved area - First shift setup/last shift teardown (chairs, stanchions, tents, umbrellas) - Taking guests’ orders and serving food and drinks - No accepting tips. Encourage guests to put their tips in a donation jar instead.

Kids Zone Duties Include: - Supervising with line ups - Chatting with families and kids in lines - Collecting donations - Helping kids dress up - Assisting kids with their artwork - Keeping the area clean and tidy - Assisting with photos/selfies - Handing out colouring books - First shift helps with setup, last shift helps with packing up

Logistics Duties Include: Setup - Unload trucks; install fences; install and weight tents; build and stake frame tents; install signage; set up bar, tables, chairs and umbrellas; stake out perimeter line; support vendor load-in; set up guest entry areas Operations/maintenance - Support throughout the event; garbage collection Teardown - Take down tents; break down site; load trucks; clean site

Volunteer Reception Duties Include: - Supporting the Volunteer Coordinator in managing volunteers on-site - Checking in volunteers at the start of shifts and checking out at end - Ensuring volunteers have what they need to do their jobs (information, programs, raffle tickets, floats, donation buckets, etc.) - Making sure volunteers have T-shirts and receive appropriate swag bags, Shop Stay Listen Cards, etc.

Volunteer Marketing Duties include: - Make website updates as needed - Basic designs for ads - Basic designs for post cards - Basic designs for slides on website - Basic designs for social media post and videos ​ * All work is to be approved by the Artistic Producer of the festival

Volunteer Event Planning Duties Include: - Meetings with NJF team - Send emails - Contact volunteers, vendors, and others as needed - Other jobs as needed

Volunteer Lead Duties Include: - Managing communication with Volunteers - Overseeing volunteers - Planing breaks for volunteers - Managing stations at events - Checking in volunteers when they start their shifts
